To suggest we are excited would be an understatement. Speakbox has joined forces with Techstars Boston in a journey to shape the future of mental healthcare in North America. Our team is currently participating in the 2021 Winter program, and are laser focused on accelerating growth for the next few months. In case you are new to Speakbox or Techstars, let’s do a quick recap. Our vision for the future of healthcare Technology has created new opportunities for our communities to come together and interact with the world around them in new and exciting ways. From convenient online shopping to personalized media playlists, these innovations improve different aspects of our day in ways both big and small. Speakbox wants to do this for the way you manage your mental health, and eventually, all aspects of your health. If you were to go visit a healthcare professional today, you would discuss your care, and at best, leave with some printouts, a prescription or other relevant paperwork, and perhaps gain access to a portal to pay the bill. It becomes easy to feel like you are the least informed when it comes to what is going on with your health. However, it doesn’t need to be this way - you are the most important member of your care team, and your access to information about your health should reflect that. When it comes to mental health, sharing notes can improve trust, the therapeutic relationship, and make care safer. So how will Techstars Boston help achieve this vision? Beyond great clam chowder, Boston is a leader in academia and renowned as a hotspot for innovation in healthcare. This offers a unique advantage to Speakbox as we embark on the next leg of our journey to change healthcare. We’re excited to learn from the leading minds in areas including digital health, open notes, public healthcare, and behavioural health. Looking ahead to our fast approaching launch in the US, the access to experts, academics, researchers, and innovative health agencies, makes Boston a fantastic hub as we work with therapists from across North America. Location is not the only reason we’re excited about this partnership. Techstars as an organization is regarded throughout the world as a highly prestigious and selective startup accelerator, having generated incredible success stories with notable companies including Digital Ocean, Bench Accounting, and FullContact. Thousands of applications are filled by companies around the world to the various Techstars programs each year and a very small fraction of them make the cut. This is an opportunity for us to learn from incredible mentors to fill our knowledge gaps and grow at a rapid pace. This is just the beginning. Acceptance into Techstars isn’t because of miraculous overnight success. It’s taken hard work and multiple iterations tracking our forward momentum to get here. Moving forward our team is shifting away from bootstrapping Speakbox and transitioning to scaling the business with the appropriate partnerships and resourcing, to ensure we’re going to be around to make a lasting and notable impact on the state of healthcare.
